محاضرات المعهد الملكي لعيد الميلاد عبارة عن سلسلة من المحاضرات حول موضوع واحد، نعقد في المعهد الملكي في لندن كل عام منذ عام 1825 عدا 1939-1942 بسبب الحرب العالمية الثانية.
تقدم المحاضرات مواد علمية للعامة بما في ذلك صغار السن بطريقة مفيدة ومسلية.
بدأ مايكل فاراداي سلسلة محاضرات عيد الميلاد عام 1825 في وقت كان فيه التعليم المنظم للشباب نادرًا. قدم فاراداي تسعة عشر سلسلة من المحاضرات من الكل.
التاريخ
عُقدت محاضرات الكريسماس في المعهد الملكي لأول مرة في عام 1825، [1] واستمرت على أساس سنوي منذ ذلك الحين باستثناء خلال الحرب العالمية الثانية.[2] تم استضافتهم كل عام في المعهد الملكي، ما عدا في عام 1929 ومابين 2005-2006 بسبب تجديد المبنى.[3] ابتكرفكرة المحاضرات مايكل فاراداي والذي استضاف في وقت لاحق تسعة عشر محاضرة. ألقى السير ويليام براج الحائز على جائزة نوبل أربع محاضرات، وألقى ابنه السير لورانس براج مرتين. ومن بين المحاضرين البارزين الآخرين ديزموند موريس (1964) وإريك لايتويت (1966 و 1974) والسير جورج بورتر (1969 و 1976) والسير ديفيد أتينبورو (1973) وهاينز وولف (1975) وكارل ساجان (1977) وريتشارد دوكينز (1991) والبارونة سوزان جرينفيلد (1994) والسيدة نانسي روثويل (1998) ومونيكا جرادي (2003) وسو هارتلي (2009) وأليسون وولارد (2013) ودانييل جورج (2014) وسيف الإسلام (2016).[4] [5] [6]
يتم تصميم الأدوات الخاصة بالمحاضرات من قبل فني مظاهرة علمية في المعهد الملكي وهو المنصب الذي كان فاراداي يشغله سابقًا.
يتم اطلاع الفني على الموضوع العام للمحاضرات خلال فصل الربيع، وتتم تسويتها في شهر سبتمبر ويتم التسجيل في منتصف ديسمبر.[4] حتى عام 2009 توسعت المحاضرات لتشمل خمس جلسات في كل عام. في عام 2010 اضطرت المؤسسة الملكية لخفض التكاليف لأنها أصبحت مديونة بأكثر من مليوني جنيه استرليني. وشملت تدابير خفض التكاليف تقليل المحاضرات من خمس جلسات إلى ثلاث.[7]
التلفاز
تم بث محاضرات الكريسماس لأول مرة في عام 1936 على خدمة تلفزيون بي بي سي الناشئة. [8] تم بثهم على بي بي سي 2 من 1966-1999 والقناة 4 من 2000-2004. في عام 2000 تم بث جلسة من المحاضرات على الهواء مباشرة لأول مرة. بعد انتهاء عقد القناة الرابعة ببث المحاضرات وافقت القناة الخامسة في وقت لاحق على عرض المحاضرات في الفترة 2005-2008، ثم تم بث المحاضرات على More4 في عام 2009. في عام 2010 عادت المحاضرات إلى هيئة الإذاعة البريطانية بعد غياب دام عشر سنوات من هيئة الإذاعة وتم عرضها على بي بي سي أربعة كل عام منذ ذلك الحين.[9]
