 تعتبر ساحة شلوسبلاتز أكبر ساحة في مدينة شتوتغارت وموطن نيو بالاس الذي تم بناؤه بين عامي 1746 و 1807. ومنذ تشييده وحتى منتصف القرن التاسع عشر، تم استخدامه كساحة عسكرية وليس مفتوحًا للاستخدام العام.^[1] يقف بجانب اثنين من الساحات الشعبية الأخرى في شتوتغارت:كيلربلاتس إلى الجنوب وشيلربلاتس (Schillerplatz (Stuttgart)) إلى الجنوب الغربي. يشق شارع شارع الملك (Königstraße) الساحة من الشمال إلى الجنوب.

كانت الأرضية وقصر نيو بالاس ملكية عامة منذ عام 1918.^[2]
